My goal here in this DVD review is to ensure that I can tighten my game with the small details, so I can be a more efficient and effective grappler in competition. To me, this will be my mental training aspect for Jiu Jitsu. The notes that I will be taking are to fill up the holes that I have in my game and in my knowledge base. For future reference, I will use this as a guide as well when I become an instructor in BJJ. I chose to review this DVD, because Caio Terra is one of the most technical guys in all of Jiu Jitsu. He's also not that athletic and super strong, so I know his technical base is very good. I would like my game to mimic several aspects of his game.
DVD Part I - Moves that I learned for today
I spent 12 minutes watching the first DVD. Given below is what I watched.
He briefly goes over posture for 3-5 minutes. He likes to grip the lapels with a pronated grip within close guard to keep the opponent down and Caio prefers to be on his toes in all top positions for mobility. There were 3 Standing Open Guard breaks with 2 passes shown. The first 2 complimented each other within the close guard scenario. The Last one shown was a guard break to finish with one knee up against the opponent's butt, leaving options to knee slice or pass in another variation.
