My second workout was at the Force Balance BJJ/ Paragon Burbank gym. I took the Gi Beginner's class. I took the later part of the warm up, in which I did the forward rolls, backward rolls, butt scoots, and duck walks.
We did a couple of rounds on the double leg takedown. Also, we did several rounds on drilling the side control escape to dog fight to knee tap and judo takedown from dog fight. Then, we drilled for a couple rounds on recovering side control from the top position, when the bottom opponent attempts to escape to the dog fight position.
After that, I spent 5 minutes on a live drill from side control. I escaped and scrambled on five opponents. My last opponent arm barred me. I would like to thank my training partners on sparring my ribs. I got enough pressure and I framed enough to relieve the pressure off of that area.
After class, I did some foam rolling, stretching, and spent 5 minutes on working on my core.
Good news today. My dad came home fine from the hospital. All is well there. The weight on my shoulders came off. I'm so relieved and happy about this.
I'm lighter now. I'm 278lbs. I'm 2lbs off from my goal. I'll try to maintain this weight until the competition, since I don't want to lose any strength and power. My conditioning is fine. I'm not gassing out, but then again, I've rolled hard in a while. My goal is to get there by next week, since my ribs are still getting sore from training.
