Tonight, I was training at the Westside Training Center. I took both the Beginner and Advance BJJ class.
For the beginner class, we did arm bar drills from full guard for most of the hour. I got to work on these drills on both sides and for multiple rounds. After the drils, we did live drills from this position. I started from the top for the 2 rounds and I was able to escape and pass the guard on multiple people from different weights and sizes. Most of the guys that I worked with were blue belts and one purple belt.
Up next the advance class. I did the warm ups, which consisted of jogging, lateral movements, BJJ movements, ab work, squats, push ups. The lesson today was passing the half guard. Mainly, it a variation from switching the hips to be on the side and maneuver the legs to pass to side control with head and arm control. I did a lot of reps on both transitions.
