Tonight's training was at the Gracie Barra West Covina gym. Once again, I was late to the Advance BJJ class and missed tonight's lessons and warm ups. I had four rounds of rolling/sparring. I did worse tonight than last night. I rolled with the instructor, two blue belts, and a white belt.
I was either defending most of the time or trying to pass guard. I couldn't say I was frustrated, more like I wasn't motivated tonight and focus. I got hit in the eye and that didn't help out at all. I can see better now than when I was at training. After the rolls, we did some 20 crunches, 40 oblique crunches, 20 triangles, and lower back stretching. I did some more stretching at home after class.
So far, I need to work on drills. I feel like I'm either losing my touch or sensitivity as far as getting a feel for my opponent. It's been getting tougher getting to class, since the commute home has been almost 2 hours and most of the focus everyday has been on work and taking care of the family.
I'll try to watch some videos or read a book on Jiu Jitsu to patch the knowledge gaps and holes in my game. If I'm not in class, I might as well do the homework in the meantime. I would say that this is working on the mental preparation and visualization before training and for competition.
