Today, I was training at the UFC Gym. I took the BJJ class over there. Today's instructor was Brandon Bender. I spoke with him briefly and he told me that he used to train with one of my current professors, John Ouano. It's a small world after all.

The warm up today consisted of core work and push ups. Today's lessons were on kimuras. The set ups and finishes were from within the opponent's half guard, S mount, and full mount. From the S mount, we did some transitions to finish the kimura from the back, do a triangle and then finally finish the sequence to an omoplata. After that I got to roll for 2 rounds.

After class, I did a short and light workout, since I hit the weights twice yesterday.

Workout:

Kettlebell Snatches-12kgs, 16kgs, 24kgs, 32kgs, and 40kgs- 5 reps per set for each side
Barbell Snatches- 5 sets- 135lbs- 5 reps

I did a second workout, since I'm unsure of my training schedule, because of work and raising my son. Whatever time I have available, I have to make the best use of it. I signed up for the USPA Metroflex Classic in June. I will be competing at the 275lbs Open Division for the RAW Open and Deadlift only events. I plan on totaling 1800lbs that day, but my goal for the end of the year at the IPL Worlds is 2,000lbs.

I had one match that day. I pulled half guard and got a single leg sweep. Then, I passed a couple of times and got control on side control. Finally, I won via Americana.

I didn't train the why that I liked to get here, but I showed up and got the win. Thanks to my professors John Ouano and Perry Hauck, my training partners, family, friends, and sponsors for all their help and support. Being busy with moving the entire month and work really got to my training, but no matter what, I still love to compete. Mabuhay, Namaste, Dattebayo!!!

My second workout was at the Tsunami BJJ gym in Torrance. Today, we worked on Spider Guard passes to side control, then we worked on transitioning from there to a cross collar choke from a side knee on belly and a modified brabo choke. I got a lot of reps for each transition and sequence.
