Yesterday, I was training at the Untamed Jiu Jitsu gym in West Covina, CA for the morning class. I did the warm ups and rolled for 4 rounds of specific training from full guard on both on top and bottom, then work on several more rounds of sparring afterwards. I'm glad that my friend, Otty, from Arizona was in the house, since he's a big heavyweight. Every time I get to train with him, I tend to do well in tournaments and I get to use more strength in training and apply moves that I need to work on in a bigger opponent.
Powerlifting Training 10/20/18
After Jiu Jitsu, I did some deadlifts, but I was spent from the morning Jiu Jitsu training, so I decided to do only that. I used straps on all of the working sets, since my forearms were still from Friday's training and the morning Jiu Jitsu training.
Barbell Deadlifts with Double Overhand Grip - 135lbs, 225lbs, 315lbs, and 405lbs - 5 reps
Barbell Deadlifts with Straps - 495lbs, 505lbs, and 515lbs - 5 reps and 525lbs - 6 reps
Powerlifting Training 10/21/18
Training today was early in the morning after 6AM. I did well on the pressing movements, but I felt my sciatica kick during the squats, so I stop after 515lbs and I just did some upper back to finish the workout. I have been stretching and massaging all day to relieve the pain and even walk it out for 2 hours. I'll be taking an active rest day tomorrow to make sure that I recover properly from this pain.
I've been having sciatic issues for over a decade, since I was in the helpdesk. I sit down a lot, since I am in Information Technology. I try to be active as possible, but there are a lot of times in which I sit a lot due to long commutes, doing homework with the kids, and doing computer stuff at work.
