Today's training was a 2 a day training day. My first workout was at the Untamed Jiu Jitsu gym in West Covina, CA. We worked on a full guard to spider guard to an X-guard sweep, then a transition from there to a straight ankle lock, and then a different X-Guard sweep to another straight ankle lock. I was able to get some reps in on each transition. I had to move my sweeps based on my size and my training partner's size.
Then, I got one roll in on live training from the full guard position. I was working on different submissions and techniques from the bottom and just covered my basis on the passing.
After class, I picked up my son and helped out on the kids' BJJ class. I want to congratulate my son on his first stripe on his white belt. He's shown improvement each week in his technique and has been more consistent on his training than I have for the past two months.
After the kids' class, I went across the street to the 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport gym in Walnut, CA. I just worked on deadlifts, since I was already spent up to this point. I got the top set that I needed and then dropped down to work on my technique from the starting position. I only used the straps at 595lbs, so my grip is definitely good to go at the powerlifting meet. I feel pretty strong so far and I think I can hit 661lbs on the deadlift at the meet.
Warm Up
Barbell Deadlifts - 135lbs, 225lbs, and 315lbs - 5 reps, 405lbs and 495lbs - 1 rep
