After that, I drove down to Rodrigo Freitas BJJ in Hawthorne, CA for the school's promotion ceremony. Today, I got promoted to brown belt by Professor Rodrigo Freitas. Thank you Professor Rodrigo and Professor Ian for your guidance and support. Special thanks to my wife, Professor Andrew, my family, and training partners for all your help and support.
I was a purple belt for over 3 1/2 years. This was the longest journey at a single belt so far in Jiu Jitsu. I look forward to challenging myself at this level. I'll have to see on what tournament is next. I wasn't looking to compete in Jiu Jitsu until after the powerlifting meet in June, but I'm curious to see on where I am at with my current skill set at brown belt.
Last year was my best year in competitions as a purple belt, so I think I can do well as a brown belt. I did well at white and blue belt as well. I see the momentum going the same direction.
