Today, I worked out twice. I took 3 days off, since the Dream Jiu Jitsu tournament on Saturday. My ribs and shoulders were sore. Luckily, I went to a hot springs on Sunday to help speed up the recovery in those areas.
My first workout was at the Tapout Training Center in Downtown LA. I did a full body workout.
Workout:
Barbell Squats- Went up to 640lb- 1 rep
Barbell Jump Squats- 5 sets- 140lbs- 6 reps
Barbell Bench Press- Went up to 340lbs- 1 rep, 365lbs- 1 rep- Failed Attempt, 315lbs- 3 reps, and 280lbs- 12 reps
2" Thick Bar Pull Ups- 2 sets- 6 reps
2" Thick Bar Chin Ups- 2 sets- 6 reps
2" Thick Bar Bodyweight Hangs- 3 sets- 35 seconds
Superset- Suspension Trainer Facepulls + Suspension Trainer Reverse Flyes- 2 sets- 15 reps + 15 reps
My second workout was at the Westside Training Center. I took the advance BJJ class. The instructor tonight was Kris Novell. He went over the axe choke set up and finish from side control to north south. I asked him about some finishes with the set up using the arm triangle. He showed a couple of variations on finishes from there. He should more set ups from the side control to north south.
After that, I got to work on a couple of arm triangle variations. I did some work on the dummy and then core work for 5 minutes. I was mentally drained, since it was my 1st day back. I feel healthier, but I won't be rolling, since I'm trying to heal up before the tournament on Saturday.
